Big Joe’s Fuel & Go Will Open Its Doors in Kohler — A New Gathering Place Honoring a Hometown Legend

The reimagined neighborhood fuel station and convenience store celebrates the life and legacy of beloved Kohler native Joe Wolf — bringing community back to the corner

KOHLER, Wis. (May 13, 2026) — Some places are more than a stop along the way. They’re where a town remembers who it is. That’s the vision behind Big Joe’s Fuel & Go, which proudly opens its doors to the Village of Kohler in early June, with a specific opening date being announced soon, welcoming neighbors, visitors, and friends old and new to a space designed from the heart.

More than a fuel station and convenience store, Big Joe’s is a living tribute to one of Kohler’s most beloved sons — Joe Wolf, the basketball standout whose extraordinary skill, work ethic, warmth, humility, and hometown pride made him larger than life both on and off the court. Joe passed away on September 26, 2024, at the age of 59. His memory deserved something lasting. Something real. Something that feels just like him.

A Corner Store Reimagined as a Community Cornerstone

Located at 820 Commerce Lane, Big Joe’s Fuel & Go has been thoughtfully reimagined as a convergence point for community life. The interior is warm, welcoming, and instantly familiar — wrapped in the distinctive hues of Carolina Blue and Kohler Blue Bomber blue that any Wolf fan will recognize immediately.

Everything You Need, and a Little More Than You Expected

Big Joe’s is built for daily life in Kohler. Whether you’re fueling up for the morning commute or catching up with a neighbor over coffee, there’s something here for everyone:

  • Fresh breakfast items and marketplace grab-and-go, and gift items
  • Beverages, handcrafted malts, and original coffee blends
  • Community bulletin board — a hub for local news and connections
  • Inviting outdoor patio for gathering
  • Pet-friendly amenities, including a relief area and wash station
  • Fully upgraded car wash

“Our intention with the renovation is for it to be a true cornerstone of the community once again. Not only providing daily essentials for customers, but a place that effuses warmth, welcome, and connection,” said Nina Kohler, Brand Consultant to Kohler Co., who led the transformation of Big Joe’s Fuel & Go. “We believe Joe would love the space — welcoming every visitor to the village, friends old and new, a place to exchange stories and make one another feel at home.”
