Cold-pressed juice: A fresh, nutritious boost

As we enter the holiday season, we’re greeted with the tempting treats and large meals that often accompany gatherings. Everything in life is all about balance, and that is the beauty of “food is medicine.” When we enjoy time with our family and maybe have a little bit too much apple pie, we can bounce back by using whole foods to heal and protect our bodies. It can be tricky constantly searching the ingredient label to avoid processed foods, chemicals, additives, and preservatives that inevitably lower our immune system and slow down our digestive tract, and that’s why it’s so important to shop the outer edges of the grocery store to fuel your body with whole fruits and vegetables (aka, ingredients you can actually pronounce). Always remember that everything you put into your body is either fighting off disease or enabling it.

“The energies of nature and the infinite universe are absorbed through the foods we eat and are transmuted into our thoughts and actions.”

— Michio Kushi

Sometimes making a salad or preparing a meal can seem like a daunting task, especially with the hustle of the holidays. This is where juicing comes in. Drinking organic, cold-pressed juice is a fast and efficient way to pack your body with the enzymes and nutrients you need daily. Cold-pressed juice is also easy on the digestive system and allows nutrients to quickly absorb into the blood stream. Explore the variety of juices available at Awakening.

Many people also find cleansing diets to increase energy, improve digestion, increase mental clarity, and help determine food allergies. One of the most well-known cleanses today is the Master Cleanser, or “Lemonade Diet.” That’s a liquid mono-diet consisting of water with fresh lime or lemon juice, maple syrup + cayenne pepper – not the sugary lemonade you’d find at a grocery store. This Master Cleanse inspired our Lemon juice, a great way to hit the reset button on your body and activate its internal healing mechanism.

Sometimes removing things from your diet can seem impossible, so my suggestion is to start small by simply adding in. If you add in one 16 oz green juice a day, you are adding 4-5 pounds of fresh fruit and veggies into your diet quickly. The top green juices to add into your diet from Awakening would be Mother Gaia, Green Signature, Emerald Forrest, and Piña ‘Kale’ada. Challenge yourself today give your body a boost with more fruits, vegetables, and water.
